Remember those good old days when Artisan was on Canyon Road and had that funky little building in the back where we held art classes and workshops? Well we remember them fondly, too.
Artisan is starting the process of getting back into the class, workshop mode. We are in the searching-and-organizing stage but moving ahead with the intent of starting classes during the winter, fall, and spring plus workshops during the summer. We may be a couple months off, but we have our workshop coordinator, Meg Davenport back with us. Meg has organized three of our Artist Material Expos at the convention center as well as ran the art school back on Canyon Road.
Even though nothing is finalized yet, we would like to hear from you. If you think you might be interested in teaching a class or workshop, please send Meg a bio on yourself and a description of what your class is all about. We are going to offer a wide selection and maybe what you offer might fit into what we're looking for. Please don't get offended if it doesn't fit into what we are offering now, as we will keep it on file for the future. If you are interested in taking a class, let us know what you are looking for and we can see if we can round up enough interested students to make a teacher appear.
We really have missed the instructional part of our business and are very excited to get your feedback on the ground floor level. Meg's e-mail is megdavenport@earthlink.net so let us know what you've got or what you need!
Namaste,
Ron |

Michelle Chrisman
I love the visual beauty of the West, New Mexico, and the desert with the variety of the three cultures.
I consider myself a contemporary colorist and modernist, but most of all, a visual poet.
I am drawn to paint endangered places such as the wilderness, historic buildings, and fading cultures in the hope of drawing public awareness by preserving them on canvas.
My landscapes are painted "en plein air."
My visual music is written with the principals of impressionism, but I am a bit of an expressionist, as painting what I feel about my subject is important, and I love for the paint to express itself in impasto movement.
The abstraction of the real world is most important to me.
Michelle has studied with Ray Vinella, Kevin Macpherson, Kim English, Mark Daily and Quang Ho.
Michelle will be teaching a workshop at Ghost Ranch New Mexico on October 10th through 16th.

Attend the demo and get a short preview of the subjects and techniques that Barry will cover in detail at the workshop he is giving the week of October 11-15, as well as experience his teaching style and expertise. Some of Barry McCuan's earliest memories are of a camping trip to Pecos in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains just to the east of Santa Fe.
For a
young boy, growing up on the Llano Estacado, the mountains were like paradise.
This memory spurred Barry to make Santa Fe his home, where he has lived, studied, taught
and painted for over 30 years.
He is best known for his distinctive handling of Santa Fe's old adobe houses, fall scenes, and the canyons and rock formations found all over Northern New Mexico. |
